The Grass track season started with a two-day meeting in memory of two club members Gary Jackson and Steve Brace at Kings Farm Writtle. The club had done so much work and the track were set up and it looked marvellous. The weather was hot and sunny all day. The track looked superb set up and looked first class. They have some superb racing and all around on the Saturday with a decent crowd. On Sunday more the same however they moved the start line down to the bottom of the field weather was sunny and had some rain, but the racing was very good. A superb start to the 2022 Grass Track in the centre.
We then moved to Suffolk with GW Racing the meeting was hot again on a Saturday racing was good with some good battles.
We then had a long wait to August where GW Racing at Iken and it was the One Day Championships with a tricky bottom of the track however the meeting was run fully.
The next race meeting was back to GW Racing at Gosbeck as host there final meeting of the season. This meeting went well. However, GW Racing had sadly lost some good friends who had sadly passed away who had helped George over many years and will be sorely missed, so the riders was lined up and we had a two-minute clapping for those who have sadly passed away.
The last meeting of the 2022 Grass Track was The Donut Grass Track at Latchingdon with Southend & DMCC the host club this meeting was scheduled in August but due to the fire risk they moved it to late October leading up to the meeting with having a lot of rain falling. However, the day we had a small shower as I was Clerk of the Course travelling to the circuit. We arrived and the track was good, and the meeting completed 52 races and after the early rain the track rode very well. That is for the brief activity that has happened during 2022 season.
The ACU Eastern normally have a presentation for all championships class in each of the different sections at one venue in February where we present the trophies. However, this year the branch of sport will hold separate events.
I am waiting to see the grass track calendar for the centre and discuss with the clubs and see if I can arrange a presentation event after racing to get the trophies presented to the winners.
